Registration is now open for the fourth edition of the Barcelona Housing and Renovation Forum (FHAR), promoted and organised by the Municipal Institute of Housing and Renovation (IMHAB) of Barcelona City Council. This year it will be held on the 7th, 8th and 9th of May at the Palo Alto Barcelona facilities.
The new edition will focus on market regulation, increasing public supply and renovation, with the participation of experts and professionals in the sector.
Registration can be made through the FHAR website: fhar2025.barcelona. The number of places is limited.
A cross-cutting programme to examine the current state of the sector
The three days of the Forum will be divided into various presentations, panel discussions and visits to different housing projects in the city, focusing on current issues in the city.
One of the main topics of discussion will be public and affordable housing. Presentations will address issues such as the state of social housing in Barcelona and Catalonia, inequalities in access to housing, as well as land generation and the promotion of affordable housing. From an international perspective, the provision of affordable housing in established urban areas will also be discussed, using the example of the city of Paris.
This year, the Forum will also focus on the renovation of public housing stock and vulnerable environments. Professionals and experts from the sector will discuss innovative construction solutions that can be applied and how renovation is a way to guarantee access to housing for citizens. There will also be a space to discuss the lessons learned and the experience of the European Next Generation Funds in the field of renovation aid.
Market regulation will also be a part of the Forum, with the new rental price regulation law being one of the highlights.
Visits to houses in Barcelona
On the second day of the Forum, participants will visit different housing projects in the city and learn about experiences with industrialised housing, new construction and renovation.
The full programme can be found on the FHAR website, as well as the registration form to reserve a place. To keep up to date, you can also subscribe to the newsletter.
