Up to nine families have had a reason to celebrate, this December 28, a few hours to put the end to 2022. All of them have received the keys to an apartment where they can live in a dignified way in the city of Barcelona, in a ceremony led by the Councilor for Rights and Citizenship of the Barcelona City Council, Marc Serra, as well as the manager of the Municipal Institute of Housing and Rehabilitation of Barcelona (IMHAB), Gerard Capó.
In the same way that these nine families have done, all those who are in a situation of vulnerability can go, by appointment, to the Barcelona Housing Office to ask for an assessment and a report on their particular case. From this point on, the Emergency Board –mechanism promoted by the Barcelona Housing Consortium– will be in charge of evaluating and analyzing the files received from the Offices to allocate housing from the Social Rental Fund. All the adjudications can be consulted in this link.
These homes are intended for cohabitation units at risk of residential exclusion, such as being in the process of eviction due to rental debt, foreclosure, or surrender of the property as payment for a mortgage debt, in a situation of residential exclusion due to domestic violence, or the property in question there are minors, elderly people or those living in a situation of neglect, in precarious hygienic, sanitary and safety conditions.
If there are not enough apartments available to respond to the files positively assessed by the Board, housing will be allocated as they are incorporated into the Social Rental Fund until the Emergency Board is held the following month. You can consult the information and regulations of the Emergency Board by visiting the website of the Barcelona Housing Consortium.
