The new line of subsidies will be available for owner-tenant communities to apply for from September until 31 December. The goal is to replace or recondition windows on the main façades of buildings which are more exposed to noise pollution.
The sum to be invested is a million euros, half of which comes from the investment in energy renovation promoted with Next Generation funds from the EU, while the rest is through subsidies from the Housing Consortium.
Each owner-tenant community can apply for subsidies of between 30,000 and 50,000 euros per building, depending on the number of homes, up to a limit of 3,000 euros per home. The time frame for work to start cannot exceed four months from when the application is made and must be completed within a maximum period of eight months. Applications will be processed in the order they are officially received.
Subsidies are aimed at local people in:
- Specially regulated areas due to high noise levels
- Zones affected by traffic noise (C3 zones), such as the streets of Aragó, Balmes and Tarragona, plus Passeig Colom
- Areas where noise levels pose problems at night. Check these here.
These new subsidies are included in the initiatives by Barcelona City Council to reduce noise pollution, most notably the measures being implemented this month in noise-sensitive areas in the districts of L’Eixample, Gràcia, Sants-Montjuïc and Ciutat Vella.
