Eight families from Barcelona in a vulnerable situation already have a new home. On June 28th, the Councilor for Housing and Rehabilitation of the Barcelona City Council, Lucía Martín, welcomed them and handed them over the keys to the apartments of the Emergency Board. These are homes from the Social Rental Fund, which the Barcelona Housing Consortium allocates monthly to people with economic difficulties and at risk of residential exclusion.
To request relocation at the Emergency Board, you must be in a situation of social and economic emergency. For example: people who are at risk of losing their home due to an eviction process, due to rental income debt or foreclosure, in a situation of residential exclusion, due to violence against women, or who live in the home minors, elderly people or people in a neglected situation, or poor health and hygienic conditions.
Families in a situation of social exclusion who want to opt for Social Rental Fund flats must go to the nearest Barcelona Housing Office. There, your case will be studied and a report will be drawn up for Emergency Board will assess it. You can check the assignments at this link.
Every month the Emergency Board meets to allocate available houses, and implement the right to housing. If the positively valued files exceed the available houses, they will be awarded homes from the ‘Empty Flats’ program until the next month’s round table is held.
