The eight homes with affordable rents at C/ Puerto Principe, 29, in Sant Andreu, are the first flats that the City Council acquired through the municipal measure obliging new building developments to reserve 30% for protected housing. The former industrial building was purchased and renovated by a private promotor, with the City Council exercising its right to first refusal in 2022 to acquire these homes for nearly 2.1 million euros.
The families moving into the homes will pay affordable rents of between 663 and 831 euros a month, depending on the floor area of the home, which along with communal costs will not exceed 40% of the family income.
The promotion includes a total of 27 homes, 19 of them for the free market and 8 with official protection. The flats have a useful floor space of between 71 and 89 square metres, three bedrooms, a parking space and bike parking space.
The homes have been assigned to applicants on the Barcelona register of officially protected homes as follows: two for people under the age of 35, two for people from the surrounding area (Navas, La Sagrera and Guinardó), two for large families, one for single-parent families and one under general circumstances.
