Work has now been completed on the two new blocks of public rental housing, with the keys shortly to be given to new residents. One is a block of 48 homes for elderly people in the neighbourhood of El Besòs i el Maresme, in Sant Martí, and the other is a block of 47 flats with affordable rents in the Torre Baró neighbourhood, in the district of Nou Barris.
Housing with services for the elderly
The block in C/ Puigcerdà, in Sant Martí, includes 48 new officially protected homes with services for the elderly, enabling beneficiaries to access affordable and sustainable homes to suit their needs.
The adapted homes have specific services such as phone lines connected to a teleassistance service, electrical sockets at a comfortable height, multi-purpose rooms and solariums, plus concierge services and cleaning of communal spaces and homes.
The building has two sections at different heights, of two and six floors respectively. The flats have floor space of 42 square metres and consist of a living-room, dining-room and kitchen all in a single space, one bedroom, one bathroom and a balcony. Utilities will be supplied communally to all flats and shared as a way of saving money.
