Through the Emergency Board for March, a total of eleven families who are in a situation of vulnerability in the city of Barcelona received the keys to new homes. A mechanism carried out by the Barcelona Housing Consortium based on monthly allocations, which come from the Social Rental Fund. Of the receiving families, eight received them on Tuesday, March 28, while the other three already received them previously.
The ceremony was led by the Councilor for Housing and Renovation of the Barcelona City Council, Lucía Martín, who welcomed the families who are in circumstances of social and economic emergency.
The beneficiary families followed the steps that are available to all people in a situation of vulnerability. First of all, they made an appointment to go to the Network of Barcelona Housing Offices to have their particular case assessed and a report drawn up. From here, the Emergency Board will be in charge of evaluating and analyzing the files received from the Offices to allocate the available housing. You can consult all the adjudications in this link.
The housing units are destined to cohabitation units at risk of residential exclusion, such as being in the process of eviction due to rental debt, foreclosure, or surrender of the property as payment for a mortgage debt, or the property in question there are minors, elderly people or those living in a situation of neglect, in precarious hygienic, sanitary and safety conditions.
If there are not enough apartments available to respond to the files positively assessed by the Table, housing will be allocated as they are incorporated into the Social Rental Fund until the Emergency Board is held the following month. The information and rules of the Committee can be consulted on the website of the Barcelona Housing Consortium.
