The neighbourhood of La Marina del Prat Vermell, in the Sants-Montjuïc district, welcomes the new residents of the block at C/ Ulldecona, 2-10. The keys were handed over on Saturday to 72 new families from the register of social housing applicants, who will pay social rents of between 20% and 30% of their household incomes. The building stands out for its distinct triangular shape and its sustainability.
The building consists of five blocks, with a ground floor to be used for a public facility still to be defined, and six floors for the flats. Each floor has ten two-bedroom flats, one one-bedroom flat and one flat adapted for people with reduced mobility.
The flats are distributed as follows:
- 20 flats for applicants under the age of 35.
- 17 flats for people from the surrounding neighbourhoods (La Marina del Prat Vermell and La Marina del Port).
- 7 flats for single-parent families.
- 2 flats for people with disabilities.
- 5 flats adapted for people with reduced mobility.
- 2 flats for women victims of gender violence.
- 15 flats for the general quota.
- 4 flats for families from the Emergency Board.
The building was constructed with environmentally friendly materials and follows sustainability criteria to achieve near-zero consumption. It is designed to maximise solar gain and cross ventilation. In addition, 30% of the roof will be green.
Construction began in May 2021 and cost 11.1 million euros.
