As of this March, nine Barcelona families now have a new home where they can live in dignity in the city. All of them received the keys on Friday, March 3, in a ceremony held at the offices of the Municipal Institute of Housing and Renovation of Barcelona (IMHAB), where they were also provided with all the necessary information to complete the corresponding procedure.
The apartments destined for the successful bidders correspond to the Emergency Table that is held monthly, and come from the Social Rent Fund that the Barcelona Housing Consortium allocates to people with economic difficulties and at risk of residential exclusion.
For all those individuals and families who find themselves in this situation, they can go, in the first instance, to the Network of Housing Offices of Barcelona, by appointment, to have their case assessed with a report. From here, the Emergency Board will be in charge of evaluating the files received to allocate the available housing. All the allocations can be consulted at this link.
The housing units in question are preferably destined to cohabitation units at risk of residential exclusion, such as being in the process of eviction due to rental debt, foreclosure, or surrender of the property as payment for a mortgage debt, or the property in question there are minors, elderly people or those living in a situation of neglect, in precarious hygienic, sanitary and safety conditions.
If there are not enough apartments available to respond to the files positively assessed by the Table, housing will be allocated as they are incorporated into the Social Rental Fund until the Emergency Board is held the following month. The information and rules of the Committee can be consulted on the website of the Barcelona Housing Consortium.
