In recent weeks, the institutions have passed urgent measures to tackle the economic and social impact caused by Covid-19 in housing matters, such as the Mayoral Decree of 6 April 2020, which provides for a moratorium until August for all people living in public housing.
The State Government has passed two decrees: Royal Decree-Law (RDL) 8/2020, in force since 18 March, and Royal Decree-Law 11/2020, in force since 2 April, which provide for measures for both people living in rented housing and people who are homeowners with a mortgage or non-mortgage credit or loan.
STATUS: Active since 30 March 2020.
ADDRESSEES: Residents in public housing in Barcelona and tenants of commercial premises managed by the IMHAB.
Moratorium of the payment of public home rents until the month of August.
STATUS: Active since 2 April 2020.
ADDRESSEES: People with a habitual home rent agreement.
It includes measures for people with difficulties in paying their rent, with agreements about to expire or in an eviction process.
STATUS: Active since 18 March 2020 (mortgage credits or loans) and since 2 April 2020 (non-mortgage credits or loans).
ADDRESSEES: Individual homeowners with a mortgage or non-mortgage credit or loan.
Moratorium permitting postponing the payment of the rent during the State of Alarm for three months.
