Next Monday, October 7, the sixth edition of the Rehabilita Fair begins. It is a conference of activities organised by the College of Surveyors, Technical Architects and Building Engineers of Barcelona (CAATEEB), which will promote the renovation and maintenance of buildings as a tool for improving the urban environment and citizens’ quality of life.
The 2019 edition of Rehabilita will be attended by the Councillor for Housing and Renovation, Lucia Martín, who will participate next Wednesday, October 9 at 5:45 p.m. in the “Urban regeneration. Strategies and models” discussion, which will take place in the former Model prison, also presenting at this time the “Barcelona Renovation Strategy“.
Rehabilita activities, which will end on Friday, October 11, are aimed especially at professionals and companies in the sector, as well as the different administrations. Due to its biannual nature, this year’s edition does not include The Renovation Fair, which is aimed at the general public and is usually held at the Barcelona Arc de Triomph.
Technical sessions Rehabilita will hold a series of technical sessions that will begin with the inaugural session, at 6pm, at the Barcelona Association of Surveyors, with the presentation of the platform Here You Renovate. The platform offers the opportunity to create a network of contacts between industry professionals.
On October 8, at 12pm, there will be a visit to the finished naturalisation work of the back façade of the Picasso Museum, analysing the evolution of the work carried out, with the presence of the project director and the executive director of the work.
On Wednesday, October 9, one of the central Rehabilita 2019 events will take place, when selected renovation cases and projects will be studied. The attendees will also have a chance to share professional experiences on how to deal with the very special circumstances in which renovation will play a very important role in the management of buildings in big cities; in particular, in the matter of housing. This session, which will begin at 9am, will take place in one of the buildings with the most potential for renovation in Barcelona – the former Model prison. It will include various activities and discussions in which the Councillor for Housing and Renovation will participate.
At 9:00 on the penultimate day of Rehabilita, a visit will be made to the Herms headquarters, where various repair processes of forged and electro-welded structures will be studied, as well as their use in the construction of new ones.
Rehabilita will include a practical workshop on its closing day, which will begin at 9am at CAATEEB and will study the various pathologies that buildings can suffer and diverse means of repair using renovation materials.
The final Rehabilita event will take place at 12pm and will consist of a visit to the Bosch Group facilities on Carrer Sancho de Ávila in Barcelona, to find out about the latest developments in matters of interest for renovation such as heat engineering, security systems, and tools.
In parallel to the more technical activities, this year’s edition of Rehabilita will have two sessions for the general public, which will consist of two discussions on the effects of renovation on the health of buildings and also on the people who live in them. These sessions will take place on Monday, October 7 at 6pm and Thursday, October 10 at 7pm at the Sants Cotxeres Civic Centre.
